Has anyone any advice about my 3 puppies getting the sqwits this is our first litter they were born yesterday late afternoon all was ok till this morning when they have a yellow/orange jelly like poo.Mother also gave birth to a still born at 11.30 today, shes ok vet checked her out she ate the afterbirths off the pups so i am thinking this is the reason for the sudden sqwits, any advice will be appreciated.

don't forget that mum has had a tromatic time giving birth and she has eaten the plasentas following each pup, it does seem to upset their systems

Daisy had pups 3 weeks ago and wouldn't eat anything but rice pudding for the first 24 hours, she had eaten 7 placentas though.yuk!!she's now on top eating form again so i wouldn't worry too much, and congratulations:)

Thanx,as soon as i went to check on them after the last post she ate the other half of the tin of steak so not so worried now.Shes started coming out of her room now to have a look what rags is up too, usually mischief though.Thanx for your advice its very welcoming.

For at least the first 24 hours after whelping it is best to keep your bitch on a light, easily digested diet (scrambled eggs, rice pudding, etc). Her insides have all been rearranged, and need to get back to their normal position before being loaded with solid food, if you are to avoid dreadful diarrhoea!

My bitch, who whelped last week, would barely eat for the first 4 days. We were almost force feeding her. Tempting stuff like tuna, salmon, steak and eggs were all refused. Then all of a sudden on about Sunday she started eating with a passion. We're now finding it hard to keep up with her appetite.
Don't worry too much, she'll eat when she wants it, just make sure she's getting something in, no matter how little.

rice pudding always does the trick when my lot are ill or off their food:)I'm glad she's ok now though, and enjoy the first few peaceful weeks with the pups, mine are bonkers now, but soo gorgeous:)
