these are now out on fosse data but cant find them on the crufts site like they say they are

the KC is very slow:)

Does anyone know how the Good Citizen class is being judged? Is it a breed class, if so I can't see the point.
As far as I can see you can't qualify for Crufts on that alone. I assume the unbeaten dog rule still applies, so if I was lucky enough to get a first in my breed class and got beaten in the GC class I couldn't go in for the challenge. Would I stand a better chance in the GC class then my breed class, in which case If I won the GC class and didn't enter any others I could go in for the challenge.
Is anyone judging at crufts and been directed on how this class is judged?
A very confused
Sandra

what GC class are you talking about, im assumming not the acctulal GC examination, but i am now very confused,

It is a class listed in the class classifications. You must have passed your Bronze Good Citizen award to enter it, but how is it judged?

I don't have my schedule yet, but I remember reading about the inclusion of these classes. As far as I can tell The Good Citizen classes will be judged alongside the other breed classes, and the dogs placed in order of merit according to the judges interpretation of the KC breed standard. I'm basing my oppinion on the fact that on Gundog day each breed has field trial classes (separate from the gamekeepers classes) and these are judged just the same as the other breed classes.

ahhh yes i think i read about it somewhere! its a class i can take all my girls into:D somehow my boys havent passed their bronze!!!!!!!!!!!
Just checked the classification on Fosse Data, they are scheduling the KCGC classes after the Open classes, i.e. KC Good Citizen Dog (DOG), and KC Good Citizen Dog (Bitch). So they'll be judged the same as any other breed class.

Can't help wondering who it will appeal to, it would be a bit of a risk it if you have a good exhibit so I suppose it will be 6 year olds from Post Grad and CC winners who have a ticket from that particular judge. Imagine winning Limit or Open only to be placed second in the KCGC class. And does it mean that an exhibit that has never been show but has a bronze in good citizen will qualify for Crufts in future, or have I got hold of the wrong idea.

Jackie, I don't think you can qualify by just gaining a GC award, you have to qualify through the breed route, which is why I can't understand the need for the class, you would obviously enter your eligible class in breed.
Is it a money spinner or just to keep the classes going on longer for the public......or am I an old cynic!!
Sandra

i think it is abit of a money spinner but its also a good idea for those dogs who do know their basic obediance and it shows that a dog can have alot of beauty and alot of brains!!!!
more then can be said for the owners/handlers!!!!

One would have thought that to have a dog showing correctly (not that mine does) would show the public that the dogs had brains. Never can understand some of the things the KC think up, supose it goes down well with the tele and I guess that is where most of the money comes from.

I was thinking of putting my boy into it, haven't looked at the entry prices yet though, that might change my mind :)

And he isn't a 6 year old in Post Grad either!! :D

Was only joking, but are you not worried that you may have a good win and then be knocked out in the good citizen class and miss out on the challenge, you will have know idea what you may meet in the class.

No, I'm not really bothered, cos he won't get a good win anyway :D Mind you the whole thing is pretty confusing, do they have to go in another class as well as the GC, or can that be their only class. Plus, mine got his award in his pet name, so how do you prove its the same dog? Blimey, maybe I'll just stick to Limit after all :D
I think all 2nd entries etc are still free? Is that right?, I'm only entering both of mine in one class anyway, but just wondered. My friend can't go, so I'm showing her puppy (dead excited), sillyI know, but all of mine have always been out of puppy and into either Junior or Special Yearling. I've shown loads of times at Crufts, but showing a puppy at Crufts is actually a first for me.

Don't have a clue as to if you have to do a breed class as well or if the winner from the GC class will be able to go into the challenge or if the judge is looking for a dog fulfilling the standard or is it just it's ability to perform what ever it is they do to show their intelligence to the general public?
By LF

If it involves showing his intelligence for the general public, that's mine ruled out!! :D Just had a thought, maybe KC would pay me to keep him out of the class if they are planning to have them as a showcase for lovely obedient dogs :D

Which class to enter for at Crufts isn't something I have to think about pmsl :-D

Me too Mel and the mud is just as thick, the KCGCS class is a mystery, no where does it say how the class will be judged, makes the whole thing more of a circus than ever, what next, one asks, showing on stilts.

ahhh i no, the classes will be judged as normal breed classes but to quilifie then your dog mu have qulified at least once in the normal showing way and then again by passing at least the KCGC. it will be like any oher class so if you win one class then dont win the KCGC class you cant go int the challenge.

Thanks Ice Maiden for the info, must say I am still at a loose to know why the extra classes then, if you qualify then you have a choice of normal classes, what is the reason for the extra one. There does not seem to be a reduction in the classes normally offered so does that mean with every breed having 2 extra classes on some days the group will be latter than ever of that more BOB will miss the group.
