My stepson and his girlfriend own two dalmation bitches - one 5 years old the other 17 months old.

A few weeks ago the younger dalmation attacked the older one over a bone but came off worse - needing stitches to one of her ears. They thought this was a one off attack but over the last two days the younger dalamation has attacked the older one again but this time biting the girlfriend who was trying to separate them. She firmly beliefs if she hadn't stepped in one would have killed the other.

Neither have been spayed - can anyone give any advice that would help them. They don't really want to part company with the younger bitch but at this time the bitiches are being kept apart which isn't practical.

Unfortunately, once bitches start to fight each other they very rarely get over it. They are far more serious in their fights than two dogs would be, and unfortunately dalmatians have exceptionally long memories for any bad experience.

Perhaps you could register with us, then you can access my email addy and I can give you names of people who may be able to help.

Have to agree with JG, the only time I ever had to re-home a dog it was because of bitch on bitch aggression. The males seem to fall out one moment and forget it the next but bitches never seem to forget, ever.

Hi,

Would agree with the other posters that bitches are far worse when they fight - however, just for clarity, are either in season or due?

My two girls (mother and daughter) live together as best of friends most of the year, but I have to be very careful during seasons when hormonal changes obviously raise tempers. When the youngster had her first season, I genuinely thought I was going to have to let one of them go, as they were flaring up badly and regularly, but (touch wood!) all is now well.

Fingers crossed they sort something out.
