As many of you know, I have a Westie Maisie and a Lab Maia, both are 22 months old and have been fully housetrained from about six months old. Now suddenly every morning I am greeted by poo and wee in the kitchen (sorry is there a nicer way to put it?!). It's not a length of time issue I'm sure, firstly because they have been fine for all this time and secondly because last night I let them out at 11pm, OH got up at 4am and there it was :( To make matters worse, today they had a lovely long walk at midday and then were left for about 4 hours, more poo in the kitchen :( Think most of this is Maisie.

I have this evening cleaned the kitchen floor with bio washing liquid, though usually use an antibacterial cleaner anyway. I could overnight shut them in the small utility area but to be honest OH is working away a lot at the moment and I like to hear them snuffling and snoring close to me ;) - they sleep outside my bedroom door. Have not changed food or anything.

Would be really grateful for any suggestions or advice, I am at a loss and haven't had this happen with any of my dogs before. Do you think it could be any of the following:

OH working away a lot - slight change of routine, but not much, he is top dog with them (but not with me ;) )

A power struggle, to date neither seems to be particularly dominant over the other

A medical thing???

Sorry this is long but I am at a loss - help please!! :D

Is it just one of them or both. Have you tried sleeping them in different rooms. Even take turns in with you, bet they wont poo then ;)

I was going to suggest seprating them for a while as Jacki says so you can see who it is . Might make it easier to work on the culprit then instead of the both of them .
Good luck :)

To be honest it's usually quite easy to tell 'who dunnit' because Maia's pile of poo is about the same size as the whole of Maisie, and Maisie's looks like a pea next to Maia !! :D Wees not so easy to distinguish though!!
