Watching Morse playing with his pals this morning I was horrified to see him apparently nipping the 6 month old Scottie on the back of her neck - she didnt squeal, just turned and batted his face with her paws then rolled on her back, but it looked awful. She adores him, and up to now hes been very gentle with her and all pups. When should I intervene and stop playing before it gets out of hand?

You would think my lot were scrapping the way they play. They run round each other and then leap and nip the others. Very ocasionally it gets out of hand and one of them will either squeel or bark and they will back off. I would imagine that if the scottie wasn't bothered, he was probably playing ok.

Hi Lorelei,
Sparky gets a bit rough with his pals, too, though with him it has been more a case of humping than biting. He does tend to overdo it a bit with his mouth with bigger, older dogs, funnily enough. Even the encounter with the GSD didn't stop him much. We went ahead with the op by the way - thanks for the support - now suffering lots of "how could you do that to a good pedigree dog" type comments from family and friends, but there we go. It's early days yet - and as he is restricted to lead walking til the stitches come out I'm not sure if it will work or not, but the kitchen curtains (and hubby's leg) don't seem to be quite as attractive to him!

Hi Tracy, I did wonder what you choice you made. If you are happy with it its none of anyone else's business and the entire BC breed is not going to vanish because Sparky is " non operational" pardon the pun. At the weekend we met a lovely dobe called Basil who was out playing truant. Lovely deep chest, long straight legs with plenty bone and very tall, very masculine dog. Basil was castrated at 6 months as well and he's a beautiful male dog notwithstanding.:) The high hormone levels in teenage dogs take a while to subside our vet said so it may be a while before you see the full effect. Im sure he will be as mischevious as ever. :)
Hello Helen, thanks for this. Whats Millie up to this week?
