Topic Dog Boards / Health / 6mth SBT leaving little damp patches???
- By Bobbysmum [gb] Date 17.11.03 15:34 UTC
Hi. I have a 6mth male staff. and in the last few days we have noticed that sometimes there is a little damp patch where he was lying asleep. The size of the patch is probably the size of a 50p, and is normally located where his manhood is. Does anyone know what this could be and if this is a problem? I have my thoughts on what it could be!! given that he is becoming a full male with hormone surges!

In addition, we have noticed over the last 2 days he smells a bit like cheesey feet??? We gave him a bath and he smelt like puppy shampoo, but by the end of the day there was a very slight cheesey feet aroma again. When I sniff his coat, it doesn't smell abnormal, but when he is lying next to me I get a slight whiff of it??

Any advice would be fantastic, and if anyone else has had this before.

Suspect the wet patch is just a little overflow. during puberty pups make far more seminal fluid than they can store and the excess overflows, it will stop when he reaches maturity.

My entire boy, aged 6, still makes those patches (and it is seminal fluid). However, maturity has still to be reached!

Oh fine, my boy stop when the mature but it seems not all dogs do.

I am certainly no expert but wonder if the 'cheesy' smell is something to do with a fungal infection? Maybe around his groin area? Perhaps you should check him out with your vet, if it is it is likely to be something that can be cleared up fairly quickly, agree with the other posts about the 'damp' patches.
