hi,this is my first post so please excuse any protocol errors...! our latest new family member is a 7 yr old resue gs. she is very good and generally comes back when you call her except when she has gone a distance away when she totally appears not to hear you. you can shout her as much as you like and she just goes in whatever dorection she was going. once she turns round and sees that you want her she comes back fine. i just need something to get her attention. she has been checked by the vet so i dont think there is a physical problem.
any ideas welcome!
thanks

As she is fine when she sees you, maybe she is going a bit deaf. Why don't you try a whistle, one of the acme dog whistles have a high pitched tone and should get her attention. You will have to do a bit of training with it first so that she knows what you want.

Alternatively try playing ball with her while you are out, this will keep her attention on you and hopefully not go wondering off.

Good Luck
Sandra
