Dogs may appear to be depressed when they are ill or in pain. If he does not improve in a couple of days I would take him to the vet for a checkup.

thank you for the reply stacy. sorry i should have mentioned it but hes already got the all clear form the vet or tom as i like to call him that was my first port of call.
