Can anyone clarify the rules on showing bull terriers who have scars????
A friend has a bull terrier who was scarred on his eye by his mother (he can still see) and there is a small lump of pink scar tissue on his eyelid. Someone has told me that you can still show terriers with small scars as they are working dogs? Can anyone help?
Thanks

Check the breed standard for your breed.

On my breed standard (Jack Russell Terriers) it states that "honourable scars are permitted", as they are a working terrier breed. Indeed my bitch has a few scars around her face from some previous hunting battles and it has never been remarked upon by a judge.

Hope this helps

Can't think of any breed standard which says scars are not permitted. Obviously they are not desirable, but if it's not disfiguring, I would go for it. It might be an idea to get a statement from a vet to show the scar isn't the result of an operation tho'.
