my lab puppy has a strange habit of sometimes limping when she walks mainly after she gets up the vets said there was nothink wrong with her leg (its the front one) it cant hurt her that much because she tears around the garden and the forests she dosnt always do it is weird eny suggestions
My retriever pup used to do that occaisionally. It was almost as if she had pins and needles as she simply couldn't put any weight on it, but didn't seem in pain. It only lasted for 5 mins at the most each time. We took her to the vet as i was worried about elbow dysplasia and OCD but the vet didn't think there was anythnig wrong. She is now 7 months and seems to have stopped. Prehaps it is pins and needles if it happens when they get up as they may have been laying awkwardly. If the vet doesn't think anything is wrong i shouldn't worry too much.
Did the vet do any tests to confirm there was nothing wrong? My friend has a limping lab, she thought it might be OCD, the vet did some tests and said it was not OCD, however after an x-ray if was identified and a loose shoulder - caused a random limp with very little or no pain. She has to build up the muscles and it takes anti-inflammatories

Hi, Both my boxers do this after they have been laid down for quite a while, we have had them checked and there is nothing wrong with them. I think maybe they have just slept in a funny position, the same way we do sometimes.
Take Care,
Lou n gary.

Sorry, no it is sort of growing pains, and the dog will grow out of it within a few months at the very most 6. But it can be painful for the dog. I am no a vet and it is only a suggestion that it may well be the problem, copy down the full name and ask your vet if they think it may be the problem.
It is caused by sort of soft spots with in the bones of fast growing dogs and it will do no harm in the long run.

Hi Labradorluver
There's a thread in Health called "Anyone have any experience of Pano" where there's some experiences people have had of it which you will find reassuring :)
