Topic Dog Boards / Health / My Golden retriever won't stop vomiting

I have a 2 year old Golden retriever, female and Ally vomits everyday, 2-3-4 times a day. when she does vomit, her food isn't chewed up and my hubby thinks she is eating fast because of the other 2 goldens. I am taking her in on the 13th to get fixed and I kind of want to know what to tell the doctor what tests I want to have done on her for this. she has had all her shots, gets groomed and is spoiled rotten. I have never seen a dog who burps and vomits as much as Ally. What do you think????? Thanks

Have you tried feeding her away from the other dogs so she doesn't have to gulp her food down? You can also get toys that they have to push around and the food falls out, this also helps them to eat slower. Hand feeding a little at a time can help also. I would definately see if it is from her eating to fast bacause if it is then she may not have a problem health wise. I wonder if watering her food down almost like a mush if that would help her then she wouldn't be swallowing whole pieces and may digest better. Is her food bowl on the floor or is it raised a bit? If it is down low she may be swallowing alot of air when she is eating and that may cause it. I have found since I have raised Taz's water and food dish more to his level he doesn't get as much air and doesn't hack/cough when he eats or drinks any more.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly and can offer more advice :)

I thought that was a very good point you brought up regarding her bowl on the ground. My hubby thinks it's crazy, but I am going to try raising it up like you said. She goes in on thursday to get fixed and so I am watching her until then. I have tried feeding all the girls in different rooms but at the same time and they won't eat. So last night while they were eating in the same room, I watched and very time one would start to leave to go check out the other's bowl's, I would stop them and bring them back to there bowl and tell them this is yours and they would start eating again and I would tell them Good Girl. so thank you so much for your advice and I appreciate it and nobody else wrote to me, so you are the expert.!!!!!
Have a great day and thanks lanie
