I was filling in some show schedules last night and i usually don't tick the box to have my name and address withheld from the schedule. I've never really thought about it.
I was just wondering why do names and addresses appear in schedules ? I can understand the breeding of the dogs being in there. I also have a friend that has recently had her dogs stolen and i was wondering is it really safe to put your details in the schedules. I know if people want to steal a dog they will no matter what but it makes you wonder with dog theft being on the increase.
Anyway, what does everyone else do ?
I think it's okay to put in address or just phone number as it is not the first time I have admired a dog or the way a dog is groomed and phoned the owner up to chat about it,in fact this was how I learned the best way to groom an akita, sandra.

I must admit if I am showing fairly locally I tend to withold my details - probably a bit paranoid but you never know .....

Most of the time I let my details appear. If there's an option for just a phone number to appear then I tick that. I've been called by a few people who've been passed on looking for whippet puppies. Not that I have any, but it's sooo hard sometimes if you don't have the internet to know where to start. If they call me I can certainly pass them on to others or help them find a place to start. It doesn't happen often, but.....
I'm a bit more wary though, and if it's closer to home, as someone else said, I've started ticking the box.

Must confess I hated having my details out in public like that in a catalogue, even though I do show it on the net, too many yrs in parrots where theft is rife and it takes a very long time to get to the point of being invited to view someone's aviaries etc. In fact I've been to 4 funerals this yr of guy's I've known over 20 yrs and never knew where they lived other than county!

For 20 years I always put my address on and never even thought about it, nowadays I tick the box for it not to be included. Still have my e-mail and phone no. showing though.
Hmmmm, you've all given me food for thought, sandra.
