I came across the following earlier and thought I had better share it with you ;-) I can't remember the last time I saw one can you ? lol White Dog Poo
I’m sorry that I have to stoop to such low depths, but I’m afraid White Dog Poo is something I remember from my childhood, and is embedded in my memory. You couldn’t walk anywhere without coming across chalky white dog poo just laying there on the pavement. What sort of sick animal had excreted such a creation of Satan? It’s not the sort of thing I actually thought about as a kid. My main concern was not from what it came, but just to avoid stepping in it.You don’t see it these days. Why? Is it because dog do-dos are cleared up before they have a chance to go white? Or perhaps it was just a case that only certain types of dog lay turds that eventually turn white. I find it very strange that for years I haven’t see any white dog poo on our pavements, and for years no-one has seen anything of the Dulux dog. I’ll leave you to make your own mind up. 80's Nostalgia.Com:-)

White poo comes from eating/chewing bones I suppose years ago dogs ate scraps and bones and they were a big part of the diet,I panicked a few weeks ago when one of my dogs did some even took him to the Vets, even the Vet didnt suggest bones to be the culprit but one of my doggy friends did and it made sense I'd been buying marrow bones for my young Labs and my old boy had some to...hence White POO lol
Aaaaargh, I can vaguely remember seeing what my aunt told me was white dog poo, think I might have picked it up :p twas years ago now like. Well my aunt not knowing too much about dogs told me........wait for it.........it's poodles poo  Have you ever...LOL

hate to upset the apple cart but I have a Poodle that is fed barf but never does white poo Pawla

I found i didn't get it when I fed BARF for ayear, unless they had large beef bones. The reason I gave up BARF was problems sourcing the raw materials in small quantities at reasonable price. I used to have a nice butcher who mostly sold Free Range, and he would save me the meaty bones which I supplemented with minced chicken, and the other ingredients of BARF. I used to get some lovely breast of Lamb for my picky bitch. Unfortunately when they banned meat on the bone this source dried up :( Also I don't have transport, so used to walk up to the butcher several times a week, sometimes returning empty handed.
I still get the white poo from the marrow bones.

Hi Brainless,
I have started a BARF diet with my dogs. If your interested, I have a supplier who delivers meat (minced in convenient 1lb packs) and bones at a VERY good price. They sell a wide variety of meats including fish, liver heart etc.

When I was little, my mum told me that if it was white poo it meant that the dog had worms and I wasn't allowed to let our dog sniff it in case she got them.
Parents eh!

I thought white poo was just poo that had been laying about for ages.

I don't leave my lot's dooings out for long, so I don't have much "to go on" (if you forgive the pun). But on the occasions when I haven't been able to collect it (i.e. lots of snow) I've found that TH's goes mouldy and stinky's just crumbles away into nothing. None of it goes white (except with mould).

Lol Queenie! glad to see there is humorous department in the new forum.
Thinking laterally, but still on the poo subject - doesn't pooper scooping in the chilly months keep your hands warm! and isn't it easy to locate! - just head for the area of grass that's steaming.:)

I love poo clear up on frosty mornings, as it has usually froxen and is easy to pick up. That is what they have done last thing in the dark!
Hi B
If you love it so much I have plenty here !

I almost forgot about white doggy poo. I too remember it from my childhood, along with spangles, mojo's and bazooka joe bubblegum. I was always led to believe it was scottie dog poo why I don't know, but when I was a kid I thought i'd found a golf ball and picked it up, then it crumbled in my hand and I realised it was poo, but when I told others and said scottie dog poo everyone knew what poo I was talking about. Very weird that you don't see it now days, who knows it could turn up on the antiques road show.

How i could have missed this delightful topic for so long I don't know, this'll really turn your stomachs but when we were little we used to use the old white poo to draw hopscotch squares with!! :D we weren't allowed chalk! There was a footpath by our house that must have been the local dog toilet, we used to call it Dog poo alley! Endless supply of the white matter down there, next time I go to my parents I'll take a walk to see if I can find any, Any one for a game of hopscotch?:)

I thought I was bad thinking I'd found a golf ball but hop scotch takes the biscuit. I can't wait to tell my sister about this one.

Hi new to forum and first post....lol
I can confirm white poo comes from marrow bones but doesnt make all dogs poo white, I have a weimaraner and a springer and they both had bones in the past week but only the springer had white poop......yey
Mands

When I was a kid we had rwo poodles near us and their poo was always white so I thought is was only poodle poo too!
Now our dogs have bones regularly and they have white poo too!:-D :-D
Had to laugh when I saw this 'white dog poo' post!
I was just talking a few days ago about the fact that you never see it anymore. There did used to be lots of it on the pavement when I was a child and I also thought it came from white poodles!
I wouldn't have thought BARF feeding was popular nearly 40 years ago---I remember our dog used to get winalot and lassie and any scraps that were going. He also used to have the bone from the sunday joint (very well cooked)to gnaw on with no ill effects at all --lived to 16!
What a lovely post! I can remember seeing lots of white poo as a kid, was never sure where it came from, now i know!! :-)

Brilliant thread !.
I remember white poo as well !. It was sort of 'chalky' and much less hastle to clean off a shoe than todays deposits !.

Ah yes I remember it well..........
Got one of our beasties on Burns Pork and potato......guess what, he now produces poo that turns white and crumbles in about 24hrs if I am a bit late clearing up.
Chris

Same here. It's actually much harder to pick up as it just crumbles up instead of being able to stick it all together.

"white dog poo" only on Champdogs!! LOL
