Whats the best way to keep a dog's nails down?
We walk in fields for miles, not much road work, and bobbies nails are so long. Is there something i can do to keep them shorter?

I dremel my dogs' nails. Much quicker than clipping them.

I road walk mine. Never had their nails cut in their lives!

like the poster said, their dogs are field walked!!!!! Obviously living in a RURAL area. I live on a farm and there is only one road near me which is very busy with farm traffic, not a suitable rout with the dogs!

Some dogs' nails are harder than others. During the foot-and-mouth when we could only road-walk, and were doing several miles a day, I still had to attend to their nails.

I live in a RURAL area too, but we have plenty of RURAL surfaced lanes.

Me too!! It's amazing the number of people who use these things. They're so good and you've got less chance of hurting them.;)

I tried to get a dremel but the only rechargeable one I could find was around £60. Only holiday recently I was in Woolies and saw a 60 piece rechargeable rotary toolkit at £14.95. I bought one and it's brill for doing toenails. For anyone interested you can get them in some branches of Woolies or online at
