hi,i have a gorgeous bullmastiff who has an injured tail due to hitting it against the doors in the house,hes a very waggy dog.
he is at the vets at the moment with his injured tail,and the vet has advised us to have it docked,all i want to know is,is this going to affect him being shown?as the shows we have taken him to he has done really well and we woud really like to continue showing him.thanks in advance.Kieth

Hi Keith

I don't know whether it will affect his chances in the ring but it shouldn't. You should apply ot the KC for permission to show him and include a letter from your vet saying that the amputation was due to injury (this is necessary for any operation which changes the appearance of the dog).

It should not affect him - one of mine had her tail removed as a two year old and has had no problems with it .
