We are looking for a breeder of Wolfhound cross Whippet lurchers in the UK (the ones with shaggy grey coats). Southeast England would be best, but we will go anywhere in the UK.

Please reply to suzshallis@clara.co.uk.

Thanks.

Hello

Check the classifieds ads in Countrymans Weekly out on Thursdays. You will find many Lurchers advertised for sale there.

not many people use wolfhounds in their lurcher breeding....infact its almost unheard of. i think you may have more success if you look at part bred deerhound litters or if you want a bit smaller then a bedlington x whippet lurcher looks like a small deerhound.

It is virtually impossible to breed a wolfhound with a whippet due to the huge size difference. Have you considered a deer hound/greyhound cross. The first crosses have shaggy coats normally, and are a smaller version of the wolf hound but make excellent pets.

Yes, as other posters have said, you wont find a wolfie x whippet, and anyone stupid enough to produce that as a first cross i certainly wouldnt buy a dog off them!

A deerhound greyhound cross is more likely, most probably is the 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhound but even then they arent that common, as most ppl find them too big to work to rabbit or hare (fast dogs, but too tall for the pick up)......

If you are wanting a blue, rough coated lurcher, look for a bedlington x whippet, or bedlington x greyhound.....that is the cross that i own (bedlington x whippet x collie x grey, though im not sure abotu the exact details) and he does look just like a mini deerhoundy thing (in fact, when out with a friend who has a deerhound bitch, ppl were asking us if he was the deerhounds pup!).

Try countrymans weekly, and also, try Loot, BUT beware, very aware when trying classified ads, that the ppl arent dodgy or unscrupulous..... pedigree dog breeders generally speaking dont advertise in places like that, but lurcher breeders do, some are great, some are AWFUL!
