We have the most beautiful choc lab puppy (Nell) aged 5 months. Doing very well so far and she is not that naughty. Nell does respond to training. Sit and stay. My problem is when we all go out walking together, 4 walking boys, baby in a pushchair, myself and NEll she is only concerned with being next to the children. Nell is on her lead until we reach the fields, and the boys want to run or ride off before us, leaving Nell attached to myself and the baby at a slower pace.
It is only natural that she wants to run off and have fun with the boys instead of lagging behind with me, but I would like her to realise that eventually we will catch up and have fun then.
The last time the boys went ahead on their scooters she barked and barked which is so unlike her. Is it because she thinks they are in danger?

At the moment the younger boys are inclined to want her to stay behind. Unless i ask the children to walk directly alongside us, it is difficult and dangerous.
Does anybody have any experience of labrador puppy training alongside young children. Nell is a fantastic dog.

regards
