Our lovely puppy has been fantastic and we think the world of her, she has already learned to toilet on the mats for her when inside the house, and is responding well to toileting outside on command, what i would like to ask is that when she comes in from toileting outside in the wee small hours (currently 4.00am) and she goes back in to her crate , she doesn't want to settle down and starts to cry if i try to leave her,i give her lots of praise and reassurance and a little treat to eat but she just ignores the treat, she is so happy to see me and just wants to play when i want/need to back to bed.I try to keep things low key with her so she doesn't get too excited but it doesn't seem to help, has anyone any ideas how i can settle her back down again please.

Dont fuss her up when you put her back in the crate and don't try to reassure her ..just pop her back in with the minimum of noise or fuss and leave her. She WILL learn to go back to sleep eventually

I agree with Melody. Apart from praising her for doing her stuff don't even talk to her. Just put her back to bed with no fuss and she'll probably settle quicker.
