I have an 8 mth pup who when is taken out on the lead is great no problems with barking but when he goes outside in the garden he constantly barks and refuses to come in (neighbours really happy) its getting worse with the fireworks just now, when i shout he just looks then runs away and i end up having to trick him by ringing the doorbell and shouting hello (even that doesn't always work) he loves being in the garden but i am getting fed up trying to get him back where do i go from here? Any information greatly received.

Personally I'm not sure letting him out in the garden alone when there are fireworks is a good idea - go with him by all means, but not on his own :( What are you using to tempt him to come in? If he's enjoying being outside then you really need to offer him something *really* good to beat being outside. He's also training you to give him attention - by refusing to come it he's trained you to shout (and this is also a precursor to a poor recall when out and about) - if he's not ready to come in, then leave him out there (so long as he's being quiet) if he's being noisy, then stop shouting at him and go and get him - but don't let him turn it into a game of chase by putting a long length of something like washing line (so long as your garden is safe so he can't get tied up on anything.......)so you can grab it, or stop him by putting your foot on it then 'reel him in'.........
