My 3 1/2 year old Bordeaux has started drinking a lot over the last couple of days. Not to call it excessive, she has never been much of a drinker and it is not at what I would describe as Clinical polydypsia(100 ml per kg).
She has been paying a lot of attention to her lady bits and is due in season any day now, Apart from this she is Perfectly normal in every way eating fine, running around as normal.
Any ideas as to what to do?

If you are at all worried then pop her to see your vet for a check over. Any change in her drinking habits, if you cannot explain them, change of food, more excercise, change in temp etc etc needs investigating.
Let us know what happens.

My Anna always drinks rather more than usual just before and during her seasons. My guess with my Anna is that she will be in season within a couple of weeks or so. Great situation for a working Labrador at this stage of the shooting season!! I think I'll let the guns practise on her. ;)

Having read around, Bailey is due in any day now, been just over 6 months since her last season so I am suspecting that we are due any day for a nice messy season.
Which is good as I am planning to breed her.
Thanks ever so much for the reassurance tho.
Will keep an eye on her over the next week or so.

Obviously keep an eye open for any possible problem just in case. The age is a little young for Diabetes I would have thought although there are other possible problems concerning excessive drinking. My guess would be she’s coming into season but if anything happens to cause you concern don't hesitate to see your vet.
Best wishes, John
