I just want to say, that at the weekend my bitch was placed at a breed open show and was encouraged by the judge who, for once, seemed to be placing the dogs and not the faces. I don't want to start another debate on the forum regards face judging, as we all know it happens, but my faith in the show world has been restored - not all judges are the same! I have only started showing this year but have been to quite a few shows and watched in amazement at some dogs being placed. I have also read show reports from the summer where a judge awarded a cc to a bitch, only to find the said exhibitor judging at a later show, and giving the former judge's bitch the cc. I'm sure this must be pure coincidence!!!! Enough said, after all this, I'm off to my next show at the weekend!

Sarah
I know what you mean :)
Its really nice to be judged by someone who looks over every dog the sameand really does compare them to each other and chooses dogs that dont have a "face" on the end of the lead

sara. dont you think it might be possible they both like the same type-----so therefore would like each others dogs, --didnt you think the dogs where worthy then ??

Yes Dizzy and maybe they liked each other.

this is why i asked if the dogs werent worthy of winning. ??? so many think that any other win [unless its there own] has to be bent, a favour etc, ----cant at all have anything to do with the dog,

Hi Dizzy, I'm sure the dogs were worthy winners - I'm not saying they weren't. As I said, I don't want to enter a debate about facey judging but as a newcomer it has given me some encouragement to meet a judge who, it seems, judged the dogs on merit. To give another example, on Sunday, I'm going to a champ show with a foreign judge, and this is going to be a 'free for all' - as quoted by one of the bigger breeders - take this how you like!

from what u have just said it made me remember something i have been told about showing dogs!
"Showing dogs is like a bug and you will never stop!. u can go for weeks with not winning and then u will have one win, u then get ur hopes up again enter shows for the next few weeks, dont win, and then u will win again etc etc"
By winning i dont nessersarily mean first place, but a decent place that you feel happy with and both you and your dog deserves!
just thought i would share that with u!

Thanks Ice Queen, for sharing that. It certainly is a bug, I'll agree with that. I know that it is very unlikley that we'll win anything big for a long long time, but just to get placed is encouraging!
