Okay stocked up again this year. Got cardboard skeletons/frankenstein's etc from Asda. Plus spoders bats etc to decorate the front of the house with "Happy Halloween" posters. Got spooky music on tape. and some masks to put on balloons in the front window looking like heads ;)

Brought "mini" mars/bounties/snickers/crisps etc and choc buttons for the little 'ens. If the cat will play ball again this year will have a "witches" ginger and white cat too :D

What are you doing?

I live on a council estate, with a reputation, but it's great here, seeing the kids eyes when you do the house up is well worth the effort. The choccy bars go down well too. Next door are slightly doing their up too and are the next two houses. This way we sort of "sit" outside and the older people have said they don't feel inimidated when they know we are out. And do you know we haven't had one kid knock the door yet they all know it's better to wait until the right day :D

Karen

I know it's American but hey it's fun and there ain't much of that about for kids these days.

Hi Karen
the kids from around here always make a point of calling around too on Hallowe'en and it costs a fortune on sweets !!! :) Hate it when the late ones turn up and theres no sweets left :(
Its worth it though to see all the little ones dressed up in their outfits .
Josh is 11 now and is insisting on still "trick or treating" this year :)
By the way does anyone know where you can get any horns or anything for dogs ??? Will have to get Gus dressed up - they sell reindeer antlers etc at Chrimbo so can you get Hallowe'en stuff too ?? ;)
- By kazz Date 27.10.03 23:01 UTC
Don't know about horns but the girls have managed to adapt one of Sal's collars so it looks like she's got wings. Not sure if they are planning on calling her a "bat" or a "devil."

I hate it when we run out of sweets too. but hate it more when we have too many I mean someone has to eat them don't they ;)

I'm planning on taking the kids out, and hubby is going to dress up in his latex skeleton mask he made it, gets glued to your face by latex. He has all his skulls out, just bought a 7 foot skeleton he couldn't pass it up. Thats my hubby's x-mas so he goes all out. We have spider webs and spiders, skulls all over our house right now. He has to make it all spooky, he would have a haunted house if he could. Someday I'm sure.

We were planning on going out as bride and groom skeleton but hubby couldn't find a tuxt, thats ok cause he wants to scare the kids. He loves to see the look on their faces...lol :D

Horns for dogs???? Ha ha ha ha ha - just get a border terrier - they are born with them hee hee hee - made my night. I can just see him sitting in his basket with his "light up" devils horns (you can get the human variety of these in Blackpool btw!).

Thanks for the laugh!!

Like to see the littlies all dressed up and excited. Will have a big bag of sweets ready. Just dreading the doorbell ringing, OH will be out and Maia Lab gets very overexcited (in the way only a Lab can!! :)) when she thinks someone is coming to see her - they couldn't possibly be interested in anyone else in the house of course!! Not a vey relaxing evening for me I think!! :D

Barricading the doors !!! Think that it's an awful thing - never let my children do it - might as well send them out begging. Really upsets old people and is totally out of hand in some areas.

Daisy (who is in a ranting mood today as she is missing her doggies :( :( )

I dont mind it when people make an effort but I cant stand it when kids just have bin bags over their heads.
Especially when they're in their teens and only collecting fag money.
I always make sure I give them dolly mixtures, their faces are a treat!!

I wish it was like it is in America over here! (only in terms of Halloween)

hi
I'm working on friday night.
As i work in a bar i always make the effort to dress up, this year it's a saucy policewoman...watch out all the baddies....my freind who is working with me is being a naughty school girl . I told her she does'nt need to practice being naughty as she is already.
I have loads of decor for the bar.Hubby say's i'm just a big kid as i love making things like you would on blue peter.( bin bags , sticky back tape , pipe cleaners ect.....)

Hope you all have a spooky night.

Oh kids are dressing up as a nurse and a school janitor(pinching papa's tie as he is a jannie).

I am doing a Halloween party with my neighbour for the 18 children that live in our road. Even better this year cos it's being held next door (It was my house last year and it took me hours to clear up!) It's really just a good excuse to open a bottle of wine or two - for the adults that is! :-)

i carve a pumpkin for my two younger sisters, but they dont go trick or treating mum sees it as a form of begging and harrassment, we dont answer the door either people dont bother knocking any more could be something to do with dogs going mad though

no idea what halloween is all about really - just that somebody somewhere is making lots of money by selling stuff for kiddies to wear. when i was young we were allowed to make pumpkins and have apple bobbing competitions. now it appears, parents spend 364 days of the year telling their children not to talk to strangers and to always tell mum and dad where they are going. seems that on oct 31st some parents are more than happy to send their children (unsupervised in many cases) to knock on the doors of complete strangers and ask for money or sweets in return for not damaging property or making threats. i find it really intimidating that i no choice than to give treats. i will never never give money though.

My 'kiddies' are 27, 24 and 22 but we shall still have a pumpkin. It's my daughters graduation day so we will be in Greenwich for that and then we are going out for dinner in the evening. My daughter is so happy that she can officially wear a black cloak on halloween. She says she'll swap the mortar board for a witches hat when her name is called. I'll run away and hide if she does. ;););)

Hehehe, we had our first bunch of 'halloweeners' round last night, the dogs don't normally bark when the door goes, but they do trot out to see if it's anyone who's going to give them a biccy! So off they trot, and see these absolute 'creatures' on the doorstep (its a mostly glass door), they went absolutely ballistic, howling and screeching. Had to give the kids credit for not running away, I probably would have done if it'd been me standing outside! And they'd made a real effort with the dressing up too, bless. So I gave 'em 50p (didn't have anything else, lol, didn't think 'dog-chocolate-drops' would go down too well).
Normally have a bit of a 'new-year' type do on the 31st, but this year I'll be driving up to Wick to start work on my new house - daresay I'll find plenty of cobwebby 'decorations' already in place, lol.

I am just waiting for Josh to come home - he has been away for a few days in Wales with his friends and is due back at teatime.
I have put scarey skulls in the window along with a giant frankenstein and happy hallowe'en banners around the house and I've done the pumpkin!!
Josh has a scarey mask that pumps blood around and I have lots of sweets in for all the litle ones who call . Its very popular around here as everyone buys in loads of sweets and goodies an you tend to know most of the kids.

We have found flashing horns for Gus and because he's black they look brilliant .
I have to take a photo for you to see - they are great and guaranteed a smile :D

Happy halowe'en everybody!!!!!
