does anyone know the best type of collars for when training a puppy, on a lead etc ? lily is a 3 month old jack russell and teeny, and we have had problems getting a collar that fits. i've had it suggested to me that a half check collar would be good for training, but the smallest one ive found is far too big for lily !
she's about 22cm around her neck, allowing for 2 fingers - it wasn't easy measuring, i realised it was in her mouth and got the measurement wrong ! :)

I use the military green webbing collars from Hicraft. they adjust from 7 to 12 inches when closed.

I use half checks on my pups too, they are adjustable but i dont thing they get as small as you need them. have you tried running a search on Ask.co.uk or Google.co.uk? I found many good companies for my grooming equipment and collars, leads bwls etc. You could try Luxway, they seem pretty good.
Take care

Have you been into sainsburys, I got my pups collar and lead set from there, they are adjustable witha clip. Also theres the type I have also got that has a buckle but you can fasten it anywhere on the collar, I think it was ancol, won it at a show so don't know where it came from. I wouldn't recomend a half check on a young pup really. Or try a harness, lots of little dogs have them.

My pup was pulling a lot so i bought a harness and now walks by my side most of the time.

our jack russell at work is now 6 mths and has got a cats harness, looks like a miniture tracking harness :) for when she is being walked, we had loads of problems trying to find a collar that would fit her and stand up to her and bruno the rotti playing together as he tends to pick her up and stick her in a bucket when he is fed up with her :D we ended up cutting one of the labs old leather collars and put holes in it and volia a nice thick collar that protects her neck and stands up to her playing it also means we have half a chance of trying to catch her :)

going off the subject but chloe the JR was originally got to keep the mouse invasion to a minimal amount but she preferred to let them crawl over her but today she hunted and killed her first mouse yay! it was only a little one but its a start

When i was looking for a puppy colla , i found that the market in them are very small i went to 2 or 3 pet shops and they dident have any . weird? anyway i went to wilkos for some toys and they had a cats colla that had adjustable straps . fitted perfect so bought it then found a much better puppy colla from tesco's with a matching lead :)
