Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Poisonous plants

I've just been looking again at what plants are poisonous to dogs - it's scary, there are just so many! Alfie loves chewing the plants in the garden, although I am trying to discourage it. I'll be scared when the time comes to let him off the lead as who knows what he'll find? Any tips on how I can get him to ignore the plants? I've tried distracting him and spraying his favourite ones with natural oils

Alfie is a pointer isnt he? So when you let him off lead hell probably find other dogs, squirrels, birds and crisp packets to point at/chase/investigate all at high speed! :) Have you tried Bitter Apple spray? Not sure if its safe on plants mind you. We gave Morse a large chewing log in our tiny garden to protect our plants but we have to watch him all the time in the garden. How about a digging pit with his bones/toys buried in it? Or hang a CD on the washing line so he can chase the flickers. We also used a water pistol to teach him the plants fight back.
