Ollie had started being really naughty almost as if he's trying to be the most domenent in the house.
i just took him for a walk he went off for about half an hour and then when i went home to tell my parent s 2mins later he was happily trotting around the street. he keeps going in the bin and eating the contents digging and barking in the garden. the other day he went for one of the cats who is now to scared to go outside. he barks at the other dogs sits at the window liek he's demanding to be let in scraping and barking till someone gives in. he's just become a general maniac. parents want to get rid of him coz he never does as they say. the other day my dad had someone come rounbd delivering slabs in the garden and he went for him didnt get his skin just his clothes. what can we do to stop him behaving so badly

Hi, I'm fairly new here so I don't know your dog - is he still a pup or older dog? Was he a rescue dog? What breed (if any) is he? have you had him long?

Sorry for all the questions

Hopefully there'll be one of the CD brains that can help keep Ollie in his happy home:)

Cassie, how old, what training has he had, who is in control of his training, do you all use the same way to train him and control him?

my names Hannah other dogs Cassie.

hes about 18months and we had him from a kennels he was picked up as a stray he's probably a rottie x collie i hve done basic obedience with him and he goes training classes every sunday i have had him about 3 months. i am the one who mainly trains him we all usen the same words but my parents just dont have the patience with him. i have been teaching himfetch and to fetch when ball is alreay placed and he's being doing really well but today he wasn't intrested and ran off with his ball wanting me to chase him then when i took it off him he went off

Hi Hannah, youve had dogs longer than me so feel free to dump this if its not useful. Now youve had him 3 months hes secure enough to push it. IMHO prevention is better than getting into a pickle so put him on a long line when hes out and playing fetch so he cant trot off, keep the bins empty and try dog proofing the kitchen bin with a pan/tray on top so if he rakes a loud rattly noise will put him off. Make sure he knows you are boss with attention/feeding/movement etc on your terms. We found Morse a nightmare at this stage of his career and had to be tough about feeding him last, shifting him out of our way, going through doors first, putting him on lead when people came to the house and invading his basket. It gets better, honest!:) Your parents arent scared of him are they? Good luck and chant THESE THINGS WILL PASS.

Interesting you teach Ollie fetch too. Morse used to see fetch as work not play and some days he didnt want to play either so we did something different. Yesterday he picked up an old tennis ball in the garden and charged into the house to find me and play fetch.:D I was really touched.

ill try the tin on the bin he gets fed after we've eaten i normally have hinm on a washingline but lose the end of it and jump on it if he wonders but he just went a bit to quick. mom and dad arn't scared of him just scared of hard work that he needs.
Ollie often brings his toys for a game normally his blue rubber ball.
he's been a bit better behaved today i took himout in the pouring rain last nbight and he didn't go to far me and him were dround
it might be coz theres a bitch in season around as he keeps tryin to escape from the garden so he's on his wasing line tied to the tree for now

Have to say I think he has you all worked out, he has decided who is in charge and the rest can go hang. It is important that you all give the same commands and same signals also not to give a command knowing the dog is unlikely to comply, that just teaches the dog he can do as he likes.
