Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / has anyone ever heard of greyhound 28

This is the food my breeder gave me to take home with my new cocker spaniel bitch pup Jess. Recently reading the feeding boards and noted that greyhound food apparently has only a very low percentage of meat protein in it. Have had my girl Jess for two weeks now and she always eats it all but poo is quite sloppy. Is this normal? I havn't noticed anyone else feeding greyhound food on the boards. Another thing is, I won't be able to buy it anyway once I run out. Any suggestions please, I'm a new dog owner

Greyhound food is VAT free, thats why it is becoming more popular. The 28 bit will be the % of protein in it, suitable for puppies or very active working dogs. Most Greyhound food is predominantly cereal, I would suggest a more suitable dry food such as Burns, but obviously the choice is yours. Good luck with your puppy.
DAwn.

p.s. You will find loads of Greyhound complete diets at pet stores now.

Don't know about that particular one but we used to buy one called GAIN and that's 28% protein so I sould imagine that's the one you need. It's specifically made for greyhounds and even has a picture of one on the bag.
It used to come in a bright yellow sack but I think they have changed the colour to a blue bag now.
They also do a red bag which is 20%
