Help me please, today I feel like I have gone several steps backwards with my 5 1/2 month old male Staff! He comes to work with me and has a 14 month old dalmation as a play mate. Today Bobby (my pest) has decided that if he is not getting the attention he wants or if they are shut in (a large, warm) room by themselves he will pee. How can I stop this, as so far today I have cleared up about 7 pees!! At home he does not pee inside at all, and infact has only ever done 3 pees inside at home, the office he has taken longer to get the hang of which door he needs to go to, howeve he never asks to go out just waits at the door.

Any advice would be wonderful, as I am getting a little annoyed with his stroppy teenager behaviour!

It may help if you could use a childgate across the door of the room, rather than actually shutting the door. Dogs will often pee to make themselves feel safer. It may also be because he has very exciteable sessions with his Dally friend, could the pee either be accidents or due to stress at being shut in with his strong friend?

Dogs don't generalise well, and I would suggest taking him out for a pee every hour or so, once he works out what's what, he will hopefully let you know wht he needs...having said that, all my dogs have never barked to go out or anything, one would sit straight in front of me and stare at me, another just walks up and down and that is her way of communicating.

YOu can teach your dog to ring a bell, i believe there are even special items of equipment made for this, for dogs, maybe someone will know of them if you are interested.....
