Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Which class?
- By Bo son [gb] Date 22.10.03 12:58 UTC
I will be entering Bosun in a General Championship show. But which class would be best??

He is a SBT dog and will be one year old on the 25/01/04, the show is on 18/01/04. Now the classes are Puppy, Junior, Special Yearling, Post Graduate, Limit and Open.... Bosun has not won only shows the best we have managed was 2nd in MPD at Bournemouth a CC show (only two dogs in class!!) Unfortunately he has too much terrier and not enough bull :-(

We both enjoy showing and Bosun lurves to strut his stuff! :-)

Any help would be much appreciated, as I am a novice to this too.

Thanks

Debbie

I would stick to puppy class since the judge will expect less of you and your dog.The only time I would put a pup in a junior class is if he were very mature and hence looked out of place against the babies

Hi Debbie
yes Bo Son can till enter puppy . Junior tends to attract bigger dogs ( it is for dogs up to 18 months ) . We have the same problem at the moment as Gus is not a heavy weight either .
GD is Graduate dog and is for dogs who have not won a CC or four or more first prizes at champ shows in Graduate , Post graduate, mid limit, open etc
SYD stands for special yearling dog and is for dogs up to the age of 24 months
I would also keep him in puppy :)

Is this for Manchester by the way ??

Yes. enter puppy for as long as you can, if you want to enter another class go for Junior, Sp. Yearling will have dogs who are nearly 2 years old and who may have won a CC.

Hope she looks the bussiness when she's int he class no choice but to move up though.

Looks like we will all be in Junior by Jan then.

Yes its for Manchester, tried to enter on-line but it would not show the puppy class, spoke to Higham Press and they are going to sort this out.

So Bosun and I will be at Stafford in January, please be there girls... I need all the moral support I can get.

Took Bosun to Roade ringcraft last night and he was quite well behaved, except for the whimpering and whining all the time - a staffie thing! He was'nt sick through pulling and did the stand when asked, and decided that he was not an express train when he reach the mat :-)

Have also entered a show at Hinckley the end of November! I really need to enter him in shows where they dont have a SBT class and he goes in any other variety terrier, perhaps then they will not realise how tall and lanky he is :-(

Hi Debbie
it can be quite hard to get a decent place with a Staffy in Any Variety .
Although its good practice :)
