Hi my bitch had a litter 12 months ago and I was wondering how long you should leave in between litters. Her first litter all went well with no problems and she produced 8 healthy pups

Hi there,if your bitch is fit and well and had no major problems during pregnancy or delivery, and has gained all her normal weight back then depending on the breed i would leave at least a year.I personally think a yr to 18 mths depending on health.

I like to leave 18 months between litters per bitch.
They are not machines and need a break so i give them plenty of time to get built back up.
Next summer shoule be fine for her!
Good luck

I leave about 2 years in-between for my Spanish. Carina has just had her third season since her first litter but I won't be mating her until her next season.

I too leave a minimum of 18months or 3 clear seasons before the next litter. My eldest bitch is 5 and we have just said goodbye to her second litter .As she will be over 6 by the time she will be ready again that will mean no more pups for her.
