My approx 11/12 week old jack russell cross puppy keeps biting my feet when I'm walking. I've tried shouting, and I've tried just standing still and ignoring her, but nothing will stop her permanently. Standing still isn't much use because it makes my life a tad slow :( she's been doing this for over 4 weeks now, my feet r sore, please help me

Nipping at feet is a common puppy (and kitten) thing. Standing still does normally work, but nothing works immediately. At your puppy's age it may take several weeks to stop the behaviour - and even then you can expect her to try it again ever so often. There is no such thing as "permanent" when it comes to puppies. I know you say you have done this for 4 weeks now - but your puppy is still very young baby. A seven week old puppy (when you say you started) is not capable of learning and retaining very much at all.

Shouting will do no good at all, it will only excite her more. Filling an empty soda can with a few coins and shaking it sharply is more effective than shouting.

Alfie, my ten week old, loves chewing at my feet, too. I've found the best way is to yelp "ow!" as if it's hurting me. If he persists I will leave him in the room by himself. Two or three minutes later I'll go back in and if he does the same again I'll leave the room again. By the third time, he seems to have got the message. (Of course, an hour later he's forgotten all about that and we'll go through the whole process again!)

My Jack Russells do this too. However, they don't bite...more a quick nibble, and only ever on bare feet. They especially love 'bed feet' when I've just got up and have gone into the kitchen to let them out. 'Bed feet' are the best. I've never considered stopping them, because it doesn't bother me. It's just their way of greeting me in the morning! ;o)
