I have a 14 week old Westie, he is lively, friendly, happy and just wonderful. Looking at one of the Westie web sites the other day I read about "Orange Stripe" being a skin condition that should be treated by a vet, my dog has a very, very light coloured "orange stripe" down his back which has appeared since he had his flea prevention put on his neck at 12 weeks (given to me by our vet). I am really worried about this now, I know Westies can have skin problems and have been very careful about the breeder I bought him from and what I feed him etc as I really do not want little Hamish to suffer in any way. I will ring my vet on Monday but does anyone have any ideas about this "orange stripe condition" and what I should do for the best. If anyone could help I would be so grateful, vets are great but not as good as a "Westie Expert".

My e mail is jenny@l952.fsnet.co.uk.

I look forward to hearing from you Westie Experts, not just health but any tips you can give me as I am a new, very proud Westie Owner

My 2 westie's both have very faint lines down their backs. The lines are a faint yellow and I have always been lead to believe that this is normal. My pups are 6 and 9 months old. The older one has had his first haircut and now it isn't so apparent.
They have both seen the vet for there regular checks etc. and he hasn't noted any problems.

I don't know if this will put your mind at rest?? but please still check with your vet if you worried.

Glad to hear your a new westie owner!! My 2 are my first westies and I adore them, even though they are little monkies at times.

I am no expert, but as a fellow owner of westies I may be able to help if you need any advice.

Good luck and I'm sure that everthing will be fine. X
