My puppy is only 7 months old and as yet has not been in the show ring, but i have been approached by sevreal people asking if they can use my dog at stud when he is older, whether he has been shown or not as he is such a good specimen of the breed.
I may not even show the dog yet as time is very limited for me , the pup is registered and he is a corker but should i let him prove himself in the ring before letting him be used at stud?

Please help

I would say yes, as he would need to be over a year old when first used, and been hip scorede, and eye testede if appropriate (most breeds have some eye disease that needs checking for), he may also need heart and elbows checked, depending on the breed. A;so as he isn't mature yet, you want to see if he realises his early potential.

If it is a popular breed, I would alos be careful of the sort of people that have asked to use him. you want to be sure that they would be breeding with thee breeds best interests in mind, not just to produce litters for sale. will they take special care to home the puppies proiperly, and also will you be prepared to help if any of the pups require rehoming at a later date, as you would be as responsible for bringing them into the world as the bitch owner.

Charlie is a newfy, i know that he needs heart testing, hip scoring and eyes testing, but most if this will cannot be done until he is 15 to 18 months old.
Mind you i don't want to breed from him before he is two and fully grown anyway.

Newfies dont usually have their eyes tested but do have hips scored and their heart tested. The heart test should be a full Doppler Echo test. He should be proven in the ring ideally and bitches he would be mated to should be fully health screened too and good representatives of the breed. Be careful though because breeding carries a lot of responsibilities so if people want to use him at stud be certain that they would take their responsibilities seriously. Responsible owners of stud dogs do check out the people who approach them asking to use their dog at stud and will refuse to allow their dog to be used if they arent happy with the people and their motives.
Hips and heart can be done at 12 months but Charlie shouldn't be used until he's 2 and a bit more mature as you've stated.
