Hi
I have an 8 1/2month old choc Lab who was referred by the vet to a Behaviourist. We were told that he has a severe case of seperation anxiety. We have been under the Behavorist for a few weeks now, they were very helpful and gave us instructions on crate training and training on how to make him more independent. Unfortunatly this is not going well he hates the crate even now after the build up stages and its so upsetting to see. The behaviorist said that it would take at least a couple of months to do so after the training.
The thing is im worried that we will never be able to retrain him and make him more confident when he is not with us.
I dont want to, but wonder whether the best thing would be to rehome him with people who are there 24/7 where he will be happy.

Advise would be really appriciated.

Kind regards

Bev

Hi

How long are you normally able to be with him?

Are you using any signs such as an ornament or wind chimes to help him understand that is "chill" time? Some behaviourists will recommend this and it can help :)
