Hi everyone ,advice please ,is it usual for a 10 month pup to smell "doggy"a week after a bath ?she seems to have sensitive skin so i took advice from here and use Hibiscub to bath her ,her coat is quite thick and she has been clipped once since she came to live with us ,The clipping was a bit extreme ,so dont want it cut that short again, but would the length have any thing to do with her "doggy " smell ,or could it be her age ?,teenagers go through that "glowing" stage dont they ,!i just wondered as i dont want to be bathing her too often ,and shes a messy little critter as it is ,her coat is creamy/white and as her fav past time is digging holes ,i have to wash her feet (she looks as though she is wearing wellies) and her beard most days .maybe i need a stronger sh/poo but worried about her sensitive skin ....... help! Bye Sue &(only slightly pongy )Lola xx

I know what you mean , I have a sensative skinned bulldog and she smells a little doggy in the damp winter months , all I do is put a little baby talc powder on her bruch and lightly comb it through , this usuallu does the trick.

You can get these special wipes, similar to baby wipes, which are especially for smelly dogs inbetween baths. We got ours from wilkinsons and used them on the pup last night, she smells lovely now :D :D they have aloe vera in them but im not sure if they would be any good for sensitive skin.

Glad to be of help , I especially like the lavender and camomile smell , I forget to mention also that I get an animal deodorant from the vets , its call "PET FRESH" and is made by animalcare LTD , this also doesn't irritate my bully and you can also use this in their bedding or whereever else they prefer to lie - similar to Febreze but this is biodegradable and can be sprayed directly onto your pet , its about £5.50 and will last for months.
Andrea & peachy smelling bulldogs !

Hate to be a spoilsport, but inhaling large amounts of talc can cause pneumonia. A cheaper, more powerful and less irritating solution would be to use Baking Soda!
