hi everyone,we will have suki for her first christmas and we want to give her a special dinner so as she is not left out,has anyone any ideas, what do you lot all feed your dogs on christmas day?
- By pinklilies Date 15.10.03 06:41 UTC
treats are great for us all at christmas...but beware of giving your dog an upset tum. stick to turkey with a little gravy and you should do fine! and make sure any choccies are well out of reach!

Our dog would eat anything, especially veggies! We always gave her a little turkey, veg and gravy which she thoroughly enjoyed and always looked for more!In fact most days we would add fresh veg.to her normal food and she seemed to thrive on it,she had very little illness and lived to 14.But watch out for those sprouts!!they have a most unpleasant after effect!!

Hi billybob, my dog has a full xmas dinner every year and he loves it... just don't over do it with her, she is still a baby isn't she and too much could give her an upset tummy :)

Hello, Toby love a roast and has one every week, so on christmas day he will be eating the same as us that includes veggies and it never upsets his tummy.

i know,...but iam a bit concerned about how he will react to the christmas tree...and if we will have any of it left come the new year!!

Ha, talking about christmas trees my last staffy thought it was an outside tree and cocked his leg up and peed on it all over the christmas presents underneath!!

yes i know what you mean, ive been wondering where to put my christmas tree, in hope that it stays up, i like to put christmas presents round the tree but think it will have to wait until christmas eve this year. :-D

Can I just put in a reminder (having had a bad experience with my ever hungry rescue dog a couple of years ago) PLEASE do not put any parcels under your Xmas tree (or leave them anywhere that a dog MIGHT be able to get at them) if there is the faintest chance that they may contain chocolate :) :) Your dog will know better than you that there is chocolate in that nicely wrapped present that grandma sent - even if you don't :D

DONT give your dog ham at christmas (or any other time)

other than that turkey and veg sounds good :-)
- By heidleberg [gb] Date 15.10.03 12:05 UTC
Why not ham?

Ham? My dogs have ham all the time for training and theyre still alive!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 15.10.03 12:35 UTC
Ham can be very salty. Not good for kidneys.
- By filbert [gb] Date 15.10.03 18:07 UTC
Its not just the salt in the ham - it also has a chemical that isnt compatible with dogs and can make them very ill or kill them - just think of it as a savory chocolate - not got for them at all!

Hello!
My three Akitas get Turkey, Beef and lamb with all the veg (but not tatties as a breder advised us to keep them well away from them). They love sundays!!!!!! They don't get Yorkshire puds either as the Akita is prown to wheat gluten intollerance (flour).
She should be fine with a christmas treat!
Enjoy!
