Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Help needed with Canine Behaviour course
- By digger [gb] Date 14.11.01 19:45 UTC
I am a long time lurker on this board, and wondered if I can ask for
some assistance with a course I am studying in Canine behaviour?

I have to "Choose a hypothetical aggression case and seek advice from
a variety of sources on how you should cure it. Document your findings
and finish with your conclusions. (No names should be mentioned, but
state the advisor's role e.g Profesional dog handler.......advice,
Club instructor......advice etc)"

There fore, can anyone help with this 'problem'?

A 2 year old English Springer Spaniel is fine in the house, when with
her family who consist of adult male and female, and their two
children aged 4 and 6. But when oldest son (aged 19) comes to call
with his friends she leaps up when the friends move and 'snaps' at
their hands and legs.

If you can give your 'position' (ie - qualified, or member of training
organisation) and home country I would be greatful

Many thanks

HI Fran

just to give a bit of support really, as this sounds like the Think Dog course - i had to do the same question!!!

I did mine by looking in the dog mags and phoning up some of their advisors, and also got advice from some local clubs.

Just one thing; people on this board are probably fairly good at advice and seem quite knowledgeable IMHO, but you may get a big surprise if you phone a few local clubs! As in variation in advice and technique!!!

I contacted 7 people and the advice ranged from the excellent to the OMG do they still DO THAT!!!! type of thing <g>.

I couldn't ask for help on Champdogs as i hadn't joined it then. Good luck anyway!! :)

Thanks folks!

Lindsay, if I say the name 'Poobag', Harriet, Bonnie and Womble do you know who I mean? <G>

From that I think you'll gather that yes - this is 'Think Dog' <G>

How's the 'bitey puppy' doing? :-)

Take care

Fran

It sounds just right, only prob is that its about 3 hours from home so i would have to leave my mutts at home, and considering my yongest is showing great promice in agility, obedience and the showirng i dont want to be anle to not show/train him and so on thats unless i dare let my mother do it!!!! although i think i could soon adobt one of there dogs!
