I am seriously considering trying to acquire an adult whippet but have one question. I have a pond and don't want to constantly have a wet dog! Are whippets attracted to water. I used to have a labrador and would never have got her out of it.

I cant speak for whippets but I can speak for hounds in general (having experience of Afghans and Dachsunds) and they will do anything to avoid water - in fact the dachsunds would rather go without a walk than go out in the rain - handy for me :D

This is just a generalisation, at the end of the day it will depend on the individual dog. But as a rule hounds are not like labs :)

My whippets hate water, ponds,rivers and even puddles. Susan
