Topic Dog Boards / Health / Encephalitis?

I have a 4 month old puppy who is half the weight she should be. She appears O.K. each day until about teatime when she starts to pace in a circle, salivate and is unable to eat any food. One of her eyes also appears to turn and point in the wrong direction as the day goes on. Come morning she's fine again. Has anyone else seen this type of symptom, and can put a name to it?

Hi Ashley, is your dog a pug?

It is Jacki - is this something peculiar to this breed? Have you seen the condition, and if so, do you know why my bitch seems quite normal at the start of the day? Any idea of the prognosis? Any help gratefully received!

Hi Ashley, Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain and is believed to be genetic i have done a link here for you to read some info on it, i hope this helps and if you think your pup has this then you need to see a vet and also ring the breeder :)
