I have a 2 year old Minature poodle. He was house broken and I am now having problems again. My husband and I moved and my dog started peeing at night and sometimes when we leave. Mostly at night though. We get in from work around 2 or 3 in the morning and let him out 2 times before we go to bed and when one of us gets up around 8 my dog has peed on a box or the trash can etc. After a while I will egt tired of it and lock him up for a few days when we leave or at night and he won't have an accident. I'll let him out again and for a few days he is fine then it starts again. I know he can do it but why does he continue doing this?

the dog is suffering from stress. My dog did this too and any change of circumstances just makes things worse. I went back to basics and started from scratch and she grew out of it. Telling a dog off is not a good idea because they are getting your attention so I said nothing and just cleared it up. when she did it outside I gave her a biscuit and she soon got the message.
good luck

I'm sorry bout your prob, but ashamedly a little relieved cause I'm going through something similar. My dog's 11 months and (was???) housetrained, but has been waking up in the middle of the night to do really long wees over the last week or two. He's had the odd accident inside as well, which is unusual. he seems to be drinking more than usual but I'm not sure if it's because I'm so aware and worried bout his every move. Surely he senses my concern which makes things worse! I'm making and apt with the vet to rule out any health issues...
Please someone write back to assure me that this could be down to a lot of upheaval in my house! Hubbie's got a very important job interview that we've both been stressed out and consumed with and I, have started working part time after having 2 months off of work. I've also recently had a death in the family...surely he's picking up on my moods? Do dog's drink and pee more if they are stressed? Also, over the summer he got used to peeing on walks rather than in the garden. I believe he waits for me to initiate a walk before he pees, where as last winter he used to go to the garden door (trained him to ring windchimes hanging from the knob) when he needed to go. Trying to get him used to the garden again.
I've been trying to get him back onto a routine and started resue remedy for him (maybe I should try some too!). Any tips would be appreciated!
