How do people feel about dogs ( especially Labs)with gay tails,I had to let a really good dog go to a pet home because he carried his tail high ( but not right over his back) when he was excited,in all other respects he was lovely but judges wouldnt give him a second look when he flew his tail... and I must admit that when judging I would be concerned although not exactly predjudiced about high tail carriage now I have a young dog pup six months and I can hardly beleive that he is now carrying his tail High is it puppyhood or Im I going to have the same problem again ?Im pretty fed up about it as its back to the drawing board again

I wouldn't worry too much, it might be he is carrying it high as he is begining to realise he is male! On the other hand I know in most retriever breeds the standards call for a tail carried not much above the level of the back, yet I see "gay tailed" dogs and bitches winning all the time, even at championship level! I like to see a dog carrying it's tail correctly as in the standards.

I have a gorgeous bitch who naturally flies her tail; she doesn't do it too much in the ring any more, but see her loose............
But her work is really good,, and so enthusiastic that what the hell...
