I wish to find a pet for my elderly but still very active father. Require from about 25th of January when he returns from holiday.

Why not consider a rescue dog? There are plenty needing good homes. :)

The labrador rescue are always in need of good homes but best to contact them/us after Christmas and then you can take it from there we have some wonderful middle aged dogs needing homes and the very nature of a labrador makes them adapt to a new home at any age
