We have an 8 month old westie and she is at the begining of her first season, we are planning on mating her in her second season (alothough is this too early?) and would you recomond using a profesional stud dog? as we know a very nice male westie who would be "up for it" althogh he has never done it before.
i have also heard that westies often misscarry, is this true?
thankyou for your help, it is greatly appreciated as, incase you hadnt noticed its a first time for us.

It wouldnt be advisable to mate before the age of 2 years, so use this time wisely and get books (the book of the bitch). It will take you at least a year to get yourself organised. Also, speak to your dogs breeder for advice, stud info etc.
By proffessional stud dog I pessume you mean a reputale one? Helath checked, KC reg, good line and history etc. your breeder would be first to approach on this one.
Also, go to shows if you can to speak to people within the breed.
You must ensure that your dog is completely healthy, vet checked, tested etc. You will need to have this done and so will the stud. I presume yours is KC reg?
Good luck
