Our picky pointer is driving us mad.The Pointer Rescue folk tell me its a breed feature and suggested Butchers canned food with mixer. Little horror loves his cans and Im adjusting to opening them ( argh!) but will I need to clean his teeth with a brush and if so how often? He has lovely teeth just now and has chews to clean em. And I have a 15 kg bag of complete in the shed uneaten.....grrrrr

Have you tried soaking the food in water before giving it to him (the dried stuff). I did this for a while and then gradually decreased the water. Worked for us.
Another thing that worked for our fussy pointer pup was rabbits. Gave her half a rabbit in the morning and then dried food for her remaining meals. She wolfed them all down.

Hi Helen :) yes I have soaked dried food for him, added gravy etc - someone here said about zapping the complete in a microwave for a second till the juices rise so that happens next when the cans have gone. Sunday were off to see the Pointer Club show with Morse so should get some ideas then. He does get excited about raw meat and bones so I can see him scoffing rabbit skin and all, just have to get Gothboy up the golf course with a catapult to catch some.:D

Just an idea but have you tried Naturdiet. 100% natural and absolutely brilliant. My boder collie loves it. He has loads of food allergies and has done wonderfully on this. Apparently it is the only wet dog food that is licensed for human consumption so cant be bad! Actually smells nice as well for a change and they do plenty of flavours
Thanks for the tip - saw it in PetsatHome and thought it a good way of getting the advantages of natural feeding without having a big dog freezer etc. Im getting used to the tins and smell isnt that bad. :)
