Could anyone tell me what the ideal weight of a 4 year old golden lab bitch should be.
I have just adopted a fantasic new member for our family from a rescue, she has been well looked after but a little bit on the plump side. Many thanks
Hi Guest,
John is the Lab man, and he could advise you what she should weigh, as could your vet; if you wanted to pop her along for a quick check over. Oh, may I just mention that there are no Golden Labs, the correct terminology in Lab World is a Yellow Lab ;) :D

Hi, congrats on your new addition.
Liberty is right, its yellow lab or golden retriever ;)
The correct weight for a dog is the one that suits it. As John will tell you some weigh in at 33Kg and look like biafran racing snakes, others at 33Kg like Mr Blobby.
The best way to tell is her ribs. Can you feel them. run your fingers across them - If they are indistinct, then she could lose some, if they are sharp and very distinct, a bit could probably be added.
If however they are definately there but softly covered, then shes probably about right.
I hope you have lots of fun with her.

Congrats on your new arrival. Hope you have lots of fun with her. My 2 year old lab bitch weighs 22kgs, but she is a working srain and very lean (sadly, unlike her owner :-) )
