Hello all,
After reading so much about puppies and there problems and quirks, I'm going to be experiencing it all myself soon. I am soon to be the owner of a dogue de bordeaux.Parents of the pup have brilliant temperaments and all have the necessary health checks.
What have I let myself in for!! can't wait!!

No more time to ride your bike! (Assuming that's what the zx9r is about ;))

no-one told me they dribbled!
I can't wait to get him into his new home. I'm sure I can get a doggy side car made up for the bike.Might get pulled over by the police and the rspca though. He'll have to make do with walking. How do you get around the socializing without all the injections problems though? There a couple of dogs a friend of mine has that could introduce him to and also a small child. What about walks though? are there any special guidelines to follow?

Hiya, Congratulations you must be really excited :) They are gorgeous dogs.
What age is the puppy at the moment and do you have any names in mind? We pick up our Dane puppy a week on Friday, and I can't wait either - it's been a long time coming :D

I'm sure that one of the owners of Dogue's on here will be able to advise you re. exercise because due to their breed history and size you will have to make sure that you don't do too much to early. They are a gorgeous breed, too big for me but a really nice one is quite stunning!!!

All the best with your new puppy, I'm so jealous.

By the way does anybody live in the Granada area and see the TV programme yesterday? if so did you see the Dogue being shown at South Wales by an animal behavourist who had never shown before. What a shame that a really nice example of the breed was ruined by the way it was shown, I felt at times that he was a bit rough with it, though boy was the handler nervous, I thought he was going to collapse at one point (the owner that is not the dog!!:d).

Yep i saw that - nice dog pity about the handling and the attitude of the handler towards shows and show dogs. Did you see any of the rest of the series showing his "training" of the dog? The show was at WKC this august - i spent most of my time spotting people i know and even caught a glimpse of our caravan on it!

the pup is 4 weeks old at the moment. We are due to pick him up on 24th October. We are going to call him Barney.
What are you going to call your Dane pup?

Silly question but why why wHY would you want to get a side car for any superbike?????? The puppy is taking over your mind!! Go meet up with some other bikers and have a cup of tea and a fag, then you shoud be able to think clearly!!!

Hope you get this as it is a while since you posted it! Had to reply as my partner and i have the most fantastic Dogue-wait for it!! -Called Barney! He is exactly a year old and extemely loving! Unfortunately we let him exercise too much and had to suffer 3 months of him with his leg in plaster.Keeping him calm was a nightmare!! Still he is much better now and  is back to diving in and out of the kids paddling pool! Hope you are having fun with your Dogue. My partner thinks i only stay with her because of Barney!!!!!!?
