Can anyone help. My husband is away for weeks at a time with his job. My bullmastiff has me around for most of the day and gets lots of attention. He sulks terribly when my husband goes away and when I have to go to work. He stops eating, wont go outside (which he loves) and wont eat his treats or anything. Is there anything I can do to cheer him up when I have to leave the house. It scares me as I dont know whether he is just huffing or if he is unwell. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

J.

try having a little time each day that he away from you ie: shut him in another room and build up gradually is he eating ok when you are there? my dog was terribly spoilt and used to sulk, once in routine with me going to work at same time and coming back at same time he used to sulk if i came home early!! and if you put on front room light in the morning before he was ready to get up this was regarded as the ultimate sin, if nothing is phsyically wrong with your dog then he is using his best sorrowful skills to have you pandering to him soon he will have you jumping through hoops to keep him entertained (you and me alike, bless) but on a serious note if worried have him checked out.

Thanks Silba. I will give this a try. Funnily enough my neighbour checked on him and he had ate all his treats and was all excited to see her. I think hes trying it on. :-)
