I am secretary of a ringcraft society in West Yorkshire and our insurance becomes due on 30th September. We have recently been advised that our present insurers (PetPlan) no longer wish to cover Canine societies and training clubs. Our broker has managed to find another company but this will cost double our present cost plus a £25.00 member to member cost which we have to have if we go with the new company. We are only a small club, only hold an occassional companion show and have never made a claim. I have spoken to one or two other secretaries who tell me that the same thing has happened to them. We have to have public liability I know but why I ask do the insurers have to charge quite so much. This is after all a game, a hobby and between them insurers and the K.C. are almost smothering the interest by in effect preventing the club from attracting members due to high costs of being members.
Does anyone have any idea or know of a company which may be willing to offer safe but reasonable insurance cover???
Try Exedin Group plc - 01784 484 617
They were by far the cheapest when organising a companion dog show recently. Hopefully we won't have to make a claim and find out how good they really are

I think that should be Euclidian Group plc with the phone number shown above.
As mentioned by Longdog, Euclidian is probably your best bet. Our three local dog training clubs are all insured with them since Pet Plan finished doing club insurance. They gave the best deal - that was earlier this year, round about May/June time.
