Hiya, can someone help me with something. Im a little confused by the bull boxer. In my Bruce Fogle encyclopedia of dog breeds it states that the bull boxer is a official breed and makes fab pets. I have to say i had never heard of one until i got the book and whats confused me is that yesterday i was walking my dogs and came across a man who had two bull boxers and he told me his dog was boxer/staffy and his bitch was boxer/pit bull. Can someone tell me what the bull boxer actually is and whether its just a "mistake" or a official breed.

In the UK there is no such breed as the Bull Boxer.

I have the said book and in my copy it is listed under experimental breeds and attributed to an unplanned breeding. Nowhere does it say it is either recognised or a breed, and in the pictures shown it looks like your average cross breed.

It says on the internet that a bull boxer is a boxer crossed with other breeds and is not yet recognised.

In the said book it says it is a Boxer/Staffie.

Apparantley the bull boxer came originally from crossing the staffie and the boxer in 1990, but now there are other variations under the same name using the boxer and other bull breeds e.g the pitbull.

So basically it's just another crossbreed.
theres a guy in usa i know who breeds pitxboxers.they are great dogs and great weight pullers.
not sure if he has an established line as yet but may be in f2 or f3 generation

Hi,
I am new to this site, so please bear with me! We are going to view some puppies whose dad is a staffie and whose mum is a staf/boxer. I have never heard of a "Bullboxer" - would this dog fit under the Bullboxer breed? I just presumed he/she would be a cross breed? Either way, we will love the puppy no matter what!
Regards

Well some class boxer/staffies as a bullboxer coz some people purpossly breed them due to the fact that it iradicates the boxers childlike behaviour and there staffies occasional dislike to other pets.

I can't think of a worse dog to cross breed with to erradicate child-like behaviour!!Staffs are not exactly the most 'sensible' of dogs, and I've met more than a few boxers who were far from dog freindly so I can't agree with your statement.I think its more to do with wanting an athletic muscular dog.

Lucy, yes it's a crossbreed or because the dam is a crossbreed then I suppose it is a mongrel, done the less could be a nice dog. The dam and sire will not have had any health tests and you will not know if the ancestors have any health problems like epilepsy.

Yes, that's a good point...we are going to meet the mum and dad so I shall definitely ask these questions. I suppose though once again it's just up to the breeders honesty at how they answer the questions! Thanks for you help and I'm sure I'll have many more questions...!

Hi again Lucy, only Kennel Club registered dogs will be hip scored but any dog may have been eye tested. As far a any problems in the background of the dogs I would doubt that the breeder would know that unless they have been breeding from the same lines over a long period.
hi lucy
my brother has a boxer cross, dad is a boxer staffie cross and mum a boxer, apparently it was an accidental mating, but as he never paid for the pup this could well be the case, archie looks every bit like a boxer acts like a boxer and is leathal with his tail when happy :) he does though unfortunely have a very bad undershot jaw whether this was due to the crossing or not i dont know but it doesnt affect him in any way fortunely.
in my eyes archie is a cross just as my sprocker pup is, (a cocker cross springer), not another breed, although some people will have you believing they ar a rare breed.
that said all breeds start off as crossbreeds so you never know in the future..........
