It is not unusual for ayoung puppy to have a heart murmer at 8 weeks old. they are often caused through stress and the upheaval of going to their new homes and settling in. take him for a check up in about a weeks time and you will most likely find that it has gone.

Hi
I would think if the vet said it may go away in time it means it doesn't sound very severe. I have a bulldog puppy who had a slight murmer at 8 weeks but it couldn't be heard at 12 weeks. I also lost a puppy at 16 weeks with a heart murmer but the vet warned me it was a severe one at 8 weeks. I have a friend who had a puppy who was told her puppies heart murmer was pretty bad at 7 weeks and she is still going strong at 7 years old. Hope this helps a bit :)

It is so common it surprises me why a vet would mention it, covering their back I suppose. Almost certain if you pup came from good stock and breeder that the pup is fine, fit and well.
