I have been living in India and, at present, Indonesia for three years now. I have always been approached by fustrated exhibitors who feel they are being wrongly judged by breeders in the west. Most people I talk to complain about the lack of responce they receive from breeders or the quick 'No' they get blasted at them. Most people ask me to contact breeders on their behalf because I am English. This is one thing that I decline as I feel that a breeder should have the personal trust of the new owner of the puppy. I know some breeders have sent puppies to asia as I could give a list of western kennels that been represented in the rings.
I would just like to know if any breeders on the forum have been contacted by exhibitors in asia, and what their feelings are about sending a puppy to a show home in Asia?

I have been contacted by people in Asia. I have probably had about 15 e mails in the last year or so. My first problem with all of those that have contacted me is that they expect I will sell them a puppy, sometimes several puppies and ship them to people I have never met. I would never sell a puppy this way. I used to export puppies to Europe occasionally but the buyers always came here in person and arranged their own flights etc.
Reputable breeders dont ship puppies to people they dont know unless they have been introduced by perhaps another trusted breeder who knows them personally. I have replied politely, saying that only by coming to the UK would they have any chance of buying good puppies from a good source and that anyone who would "ship blind" would not be a reptuable breeder. I have never heard from any of them a second time. Some appeared to be dealers and some were individuals, but none were prepared to travel.

I was contacted just a couple of weeks ago about a Bordeaux puppy, I do not know were the gentleman got my e-mail address from as I do not advertise and I have never bred a litter of Bordeaux, but I would need to know a lot about the person and what involvement he had in the dog world in his country and any recommendations that could be validified, It would take a lot of correspondance and time before I would agree to send a puppy bred by me to any country.

I totally agree with the both of you. A person I know, in India, obtained a Lab Ret by visiting the breeder and by putting a face to the name he was able to receive the puppy. I would be very careful with brokers as these people are the scum of the earth. They seem to be in all countries, not just asia, and benifit by any means possible to get rich.
I have also been contacted from Malaysia asking me for a Am Cocker. I don't breed these dogs but as I own a Afterglow poodle, they may have thought I was the owner of the kennel. If they had have done a little more research (Like Google) they would have seen that I own a many dogs from different kennels. I sent a nice reply informing them of the situation.

I dont and wont send any thing of mine out of the country, i want to be able to take any back if any thing goes wrong, if they are in another country you cant help it and then who knows where it will end up.

There is also the moral dilema of not knowing what will happen to the offspring/descendants of the dogs exported. The owners of the original stock may be excellent, but in countries where dogs do not have the status, and where frankly animal welfare is not the higest of priorities, and also a lot more ignorance about a dogs needs, I would worry about what would become of them.

Hi,
I've had around 10 e.mails from people in Asia....it's very difficult, because, although I chat, through e.mail, to these people, I can never actually meet them, and meeting a prospective owner is so important.
It wouldn't matter where new owners were from, I have to meet them first, and then decide whether they're suitable.
It is very difficult, as I've been talking to a couple who are looking for pup, and although they sound lovely, and I think they'd be good owners, I just couldn't let one of my babies go all that way without actually meeting the people.
